DIY Design School

A SPACE FOR CRITICISING DESIGN EDUCATION This is a D.I.Y. kit for future design students to stage what will be left of university education if the government continues to reduce funding for the arts and for universities. This will inevitably lead to an increase in fees and to larger year groups. This project can be seen as a continuation of the tradition of certificate forging at the RCA but also tries to spur debates about what lies at the heart of the current education crisis. This is an ongoing investigation in the official graphic design language of the “most important” documents in education and how a process of devaluation would look like. Hence I focused on how value is created and what role the imagination plays in this process.
