Recording The Masters (Branding and Product Design)

Complete rebrand, packaging, logo and data sheet design for the premiere tape manufacturer RTM (Recording the Masters). The aim of the project was to root the branding and the logo in the long history of graphic design in recording technology. The brand should feel timeless and be a seal of quality. Companies such as Studer Reel-To-Reel recoding machines as well as BASF were an inspiration for the typography such as the circular nature of reel to reel and cassette technology itself. The two circles are equally a stereo symbol as well a visualisation of Reel-To-Reel technology. As the logo is used in recoding studios on home mixtapes, alongside handwritten Names and Titles the key was be distinguishable without being overpowering.
